John Friend will Definitely be at Wanderlust Festival

Bet there’s a few of you who can’t wait to get the Wanderlust 2011 party started.  I know one person who will be there:  Anusara Yoga founder John Friend.  I really quite enjoyed this fairly long but entertaining clip from John Friend at last year’s Wanderlust Speakeasy about the purpose, power, and diversity of the yoga community.

In the midst of exploring the world of Anusara, I discovered this gem of a yoga reading list on the Anusara website. Lots of good yoga books to contemplate (and buy…Yikes!). And since I’m a bit of an Anusara novice, I also enjoyed listening to this interview of John Friend by Drishti Point, discussing the expansion of hatha yoga around the world, John’s approach to developing teachers, and the underlying principles of Anusara.

In case you missed it or just want to relive the verbal punch/counterpunch between The New York Times and John Friend (aka “The Yoga Mogul”), here are the juicy links:  New York TimesThe Yoga Mogul; John Friend – Response.

High Vibrations Yoga DVD by Jo Tastula

I’ve been practicing yoga pretty regularly lately with YogaGlo and one of my favorite yoga teachers on the site is Jo Tastula. Besides having a great Australian accent she teaches a pretty darn near perfect vinyasa flow class. I always feel inspired, focused, and in the moment afterwards. Most of her classes on YogaGlo range between 30 and 60 minutes–enough time to get good and sweaty–, but I recently discovered she also has an excellently produced DVD, High Vibrations Yoga, which consists of five short meditations and five sun salutation practices. Any combination of the practices can be completed in less than 20 minutes. Great for those moments when you don’t have a lot of time, but want to reconnect with and realign your body’s energy.
